Jan 7 Winter freeze update – 9:30a
In the last two hours, Alabama Power crews have restored service to more than 40 percent of the customers affected by extreme cold temperatures across the state.
As of 9:30 Tuesday morning, there were 15,400 customers without service, down from a peak of just over 27,000.
Alabama Power crews were on standby through the morning, and ready to roll in an instant to minimize the length of any outages.
