During the last decade, Alabama Power Company has spent nearly three billion in upgrades to comply with environmental standards. It’s an effort that hasn’t gone unnoticed by industry watchers.

Plant Miller, located in Jefferson County has been listed, according to Power Engineering, as one of the top five cleanest coal plants in the nation, helping significantly reduce emissions in Alabama.

The study cites in particular an eight-year window in which the most significant reductions were observed.

Miller is one of  24 generating facilities across the Alabama Power service territory.
