Alabama Power crews return home

Now that the threat of power outages from severe winter weather has been downsized for the Northeast, Alabama Power crews are returning home.
Monday afternoon, 200 workers, including line crew and support personnel, started traveling to the region. Crews pulled out from Alabama Power Crew Headquarters in Jasper with the goal of arriving in the Long Island area by Wednesday morning.
This storm recovery team consisted of crews from Alabama Power’s Birmingham, Eastern, Southern and Western Divisions.
Alabama Power crews assisted the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA)/PSE&G through a mutual assistance agreement, which are arranged through a network of utilities which pitch in during extreme storms and mass outages.
All crews are expected to back in Alabama Tuesday.
