We love hearing from our customers

At Alabama Power, impeccable customer service is one of our primary goals. Recently, we received a note from one of our customers, Jonathan Messner, sharing how reliable service has made such an impact in the life of his family, particularly his young son.

Thanks Alabama Power

Three-year-old Noah Messner staring at an Alabama Power sign while traveling with his family recently.

My 3-year-old Noah Messner is a strong and powerful boy. He has lived a long portion of his short life at Children’s Hospital. We almost lost him. I never think about it truthfully, I just pay my bill and that’s that.

However, without you and your company and overwhelming responsibility to so many, we would not have him. The machines, surgery, and even equipment we needed at home relied on the power that you provide. People truly do not think about it. As well as the men and women who work so hard to educate themselves for technological advancement, build our infrastructure, and even risk their lives to give residents true power.  Many would lose their TV, stereo, lamps, the kitchens they cook in…

We are fortunate and better off than a lot of people out there, but, without you guys we would have lost our son. Now he will grow up and use the same power company, ski on the beautiful lakes you built and maybe even one day take another priceless moment of his life to stop and look at a back road power station and how beautiful it actually is. Noah’s case was rare and so are snowstorms in Alabama, but you guys won that battle as did he with your help. I just never realized it.

We were out trying to help people get unstuck and give rides to stranded folks (after recent snowy, wintry weather hit Alabama). This was not a staged picture. It was kind of weird even.  We passed this small power station on a county road. My son Noah begged me to stop. He wanted to see something. It was late and we were tired, but he insisted on getting out and looking at this small, back road power station. Crunching his way through the snow, he walks up to this sign and stares at it maybe 45 seconds to a minute. My phone was in my coat pocket and I snapped the picture. He looks for another 30 seconds and said, “Okay daddy, let’s go home and get warm.”

That’s when it truly gave me a feeling of thankfulness for all I just explained. It was meant to be and I wanted to thank you for all you have done for Alabama and especially for my son. People stumble and rare things happen, but you men and women never fail us. One last thing. We did not pass one house in seven hours and over a 359 mile endeavor without seeing lights on! Thank you for your time!

Thank you Jonathan Messner for sharing.
