Mo’ne Davis and the Anderson Monarchs of Philadelphia are in Birmingham today as part of the 2015 Barnstorming Tour: A Tribute to the Civil Rights Movement.

Davis, the first African-American girl to win a Little League World Series game and the first girl to pitch a shutout in Little League World Series history, is the most recognized member of the team. She turns 14 today and takes the field with her teammates this evening against the Willie Mays RBI Youth Urban Baseball League team in Birmingham in the Papa Jack Youth Baseball Classic.

While tonight is about competition, today was about reflection and unity as the team visited Birmingham’s Civil Rights Institute and Sixteenth Street Baptist Church. They had breakfast at Alabama Power Company and met with Birmingham Mayor William Bell as part of a busy day.
