Restoration efforts wind down

Alabama Power crews repaired poles and cables on Sanders Road in Hoover.
As of 9 a.m., power has been restored to more than 110,000 Alabama Power customers, down from a peak of 115,000 affected at the height of Tuesday night’s storms.
Crews from other states have assisted in restoration efforts, including Georgia Power, Mississippi Power and Gulf Power.
In Birmingham Division, 3400 customers remain without power.The hardest hit areas include Clairmont, Southside, Homewood, Mountain Brook and Vestavia. All are expected to be restored by 10:00 p.m.
In Western Division, nearly all customers have been restored. The few remaining outages are expected to be restored by mid-afternoon.
