NBA basketball player hosts Family Fun Day

It was anything but your typical Saturday at Birmingham’s Railroad Park. Basketball players from three NBA teams added some “star power” to the Magic City.

Eric Bledsoe, a former Parker High School basketball standout and current Phoenix Suns point guard, hosted a back to school family fun day. He was joined by two other NBA players with ties to Birmingham – DeMarcus Cousins, a center with the Sacramento Kings, and K.J. McDaniels, a shooting guard with the Houston Rockets.

The festivities kicked off at 11 a.m. Those who came to Railroad Park were treated to free food, games, music and a chance to meet the players.

They also received free tickets to see the professional ball players face off in an exhibition-style game at Parker High School Saturday night. The game, which kicked off at 6:30 p.m., marked a bit of deja vu for the athletes, who’ve faced off against each other in past summer basketball camps in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Summer basketball league.

Take a look at some of the highlights from Saturday.
