An estimated 15,000 people turned out Sunday for the fourth annual Trucks by the Tracks food truck festival at Birmingham Railroad Park.

The 33 food trucks this year were the most the festival has had. This was also the first year the festival charged admission ($5 per person). The funds go toward providing public amenities in the park, including free Wi-Fi.

The crowds were boosted before and after the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team match against Haiti at Legion Field that coincided with the nearby food truck festival. The weekend also marked the five-year anniversary of Railroad Park, which has become a focal point for the city and a catalyst for new development into what has emerged as the Parkside District.

Trucks and carts sold barbecue and po’boys, burgers, sausages, pizza, tacos, beer, drinks in pineapples, donuts, popsicles, cupcakes and more.

Food trucks and carts included Big Spoon Creamery, TheBomb.com, Brianca’s Snack Shack, Cantina on Wheels, Cheezin, Dreamcakes, Full Moon BBQ, The Heavenly Donut Company, Lazy Boy BBQ, Magic City Sweet Ice, Melt, Naughty but Nice Kettle Corn, Nola Ice, Notorious P.I.G, Off the Hook, Pina Colada Caribbean Style, Premium Ice Delights, Repicci’s Italian Ice and Gelato, Saw’s Street Kitchen, Shindigs, Slice Pizza & Brew, Steel City Pops, Travis Chicago Style Polish Sausages & Burgers, and Treats So Sweet.

Bands that performed included American Animal, Avonwood, Five Shot Jack, GiGi Scott & Trouble Town, and Two State Nation.
