As we approach the first taste of fall, check out some of our favorite things to do this weekend in Alabama.
World Boxing Council Heavyweight Championship Fight
You can’t miss Alabama’s WBC Heavywight Champion Deontay Wilder, as he defends his title in Birmingham against Johann Duhaupas on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the BJCC’s Legacy Arena. This is the Tuscaloosa native’s second title fight in his home state. It will be broadcast nationally on NBC.
Peanut Boil Festival
Expect some of the very best boiled peanuts ever eaten at the 6th Annual Peanut Boil festival Saturday, Sept. 26 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Luverne, Alabama. The festival also features a car show, beauty pageant, arts and crafts and plenty of entertainment for the kids. For general information, contact the Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce.
Whistle Stop Festival
The historic district of Irondale will have its 24th Annual Whistle Stop Festival Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. After you have listened to live music and shopped, you will want to end the evening over a fabulous 9 p.m. fireworks show. Get the full details here.

Breakin’ Bread Festival
There are so many reasons why you will want to attend this local flavor festival. Some of Birmingham’s finest restaurants will be represented at Sloss Furnaces Sunday, Sept. 27 from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. This event benefits Camp Smile-A-Mile and Make-A-Wish Alabama. Homestead Hollow Festival
Springville’s Homestead Hollow festival is Sept. 25-27 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. It features some of the most unique and interesting demonstrations of blacksmithing, wood stove cooking, quilting and other activities that show you what it was like to be a pioneer and early settler.
You can count on great food and activities for the children at this one-of-a-kind event.
Mobile Fashion Week 2015
When the weather changes, so does your wardrobe. But have no worries because Mobile’s Fashion Week will present a variety of designers, makeup artists and hair stylists to keep you updated on the latest trends of the new fall season.
