Outside of the occasional accident, traffic flows smoothly most days on Birmingham’s Southside. But on this Thursday, there’s a little bit of a slowdown on 19th Street South near the Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
The drivers of the cars don’t appear to mind, because most are coming to get their “fix” of Greek delicacies – foods such as souvlakia, pisticho and baklava.
It’s the 43rd annual Greek Festival, which continues to grow in popularity each year. The festival runs through Saturday evening.
