Here are some fun indoor and outdoor activities you will enjoy this fall weekend.

Let the fun begin at the Southern Women’s Show at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex Oct. 8-11. You’ll find fashion tips, food demonstrations, shopping ideas and a chance to win prizes. Special celebrity appearances include Jessa Duggar Seewald from TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, Britt Nilsson from The Bachelor and Comedienne JOY the Queen of Clean, among other guest stars. Barber Vintage Festival 
Get ready for the 11th Annual Barber Vintage Festival Oct. 9-11. This spectacular, three-day event will feature shows, contests and seminars. A special tribute to John Britten, an engineering genius of Britten’s Motorcycles (1950-1995), is the highlight of this year’s celebration. Seating is limited.

Boo at the Zoo

Boo at the Zoo is another fan favorite for the entire family. It will be held Oct. 9-11, Oct. 16-18 and Oct. 23-31. Plan to attend the event in your spookiest costume as you experience the evening’s scheduled activities, including the new Skeleton Skate Ice Rink.

Eat Drink Read Write Festival

The Eat Drink Read Write Festival is underway at the Birmingham Public Library and runs through Oct. 9. A special program will be held at the Vulcan Park and Museum Thursday, Oct. 8. This program will pique your interest in food, culinary arts and literature through a four-part presentation.

Special guests include Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito of New York City bakeries. Their work is known nationally, and they’ve authored a series of popular cookbooks. More information can be found on their Facebook page.

44th Annual National Shrimp Festival

Relax on the sandy beaches of Gulf Shores while you enjoy the 44th Annual National Shrimp Festival Oct. 8-11.  Prepare for an enormous display of food from vendors across the country, the best in music performances and other entertainment. Indian Summer Arts and Craft Festival

The Indian Summer Arts and Craft Festival is Oct. 10-11 in historic downtown Eufaula. This annual show, which highlights homemade arts and crafts from around the region, has been one of Eufaula’s sacred traditions for 25 years. As always, you can count on good food, entertainment and children’s activities. Cullman Oktoberfest

Cullman is celebrating its German heritage during the 34th Annual Celebration of Oktoberfest through Oct. 11. Taste and experience Germany’s finest foods and music.
