Alabama’s latest boxing legacy is getting a one-two punch.

You may already know Deontay Wilder’s story: the “Bronze Bomber” from Northport who won an Olympic medal followed by the World Boxing Council heavyweight championship who has defended his title twice in Birmingham.

But there is another Wilder who is attracting interest in the boxing ring.

Deontay’s younger brother, Marsellos, has emerged as a promising young amateur.

As you will see from his story, Marsellos is not just boxing in his big brother’s shadow. He has aspirations of his own.

“It’s like you get this superhero attitude from your blood pumping and adrenaline,” Marsellos Wilder said. “And I get a thrill from it.”

“Why I Box” was filmed, produced and edited by David Macon and executive produced by Joe Allen.
