Mostly, the storms are over now.
But while traveling through our state, Alabama Power customers were affected by numerous power outages. Birmingham Division customers were affected the most significantly in the overnight hours, with numbers topping 7,000 outages at one point.
Crews responded quickly to get those numbers down as the severe weather moved through, mainly consisting of heavy rains and high winds.
As restoration work continues, here’s how the numbers shape up in Divisions across the state this evening.
- Eastern Division:Â Â Â Â Â 1300 outages
- Western Division:Â Â Â Â Â 260 outages
- Birmingham Division:Â Â 200 outages
Forecasters say these storms should move out of Alabama by day’s end. Â While the system moved through, some of our Alabama Power employees photographed crews working to restore power.
In the Rock Mountain Lake area of Jefferson County near McCalla, crews replaced a pole and transformer downed by the storms.
Crews also worked on 12th Street in the Birmingham Division to repair power lines.
Crews also worked to restore outages in Alabama Power’s Southern Division in Montgomery.
