The Lyric opens its doors again
Winter is not typically known as a seasonĀ of renewal. But this weekend brings new life to downtown Birmingham with the reopening of the legendary Lyric Theatre.Ā Launched 102 years ago, the Lyric hosted the nationās biggest musical and vaudeville acts before falling into disrepair. Its painstaking restoration now complete, it will host several sold out vaudeville-style shows this weekend.Ā The public may schedule tours of the Lyric with its owner,Ā Birmingham Landmarks. HonoringĀ King with music
On Monday Jan. 18, the nation honors the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. On Sunday Jan. 17, hear the Alabama Symphony Orchestraās āReflect and Rejoice: A Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.ā at the Alys Robinson Stephens Performing Arts Center.
