Springtime in Alabama invites us to get outdoors and enjoy time with family and friends. Why not add some horsepower into the mix?

Barber Motorsports Park reintroduces itself to Birmingham, the state and the nation each spring as it hosts the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama April 22-24, the same time everything is back in bloom in what has been called “the Augusta National of racetracks.”

The 740-acre, multipurpose racing facility is east of Birmingham near Leeds. Built by George Barber, it has been the site of numerous car and motorcycle races and events and is home of the Porsche Sport Driving School.

Though the racetrack is the centerpiece, the most remarkable attraction on the property is the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. The current expansion of the museum will allow more of Barber’s personal collection of motorcycles and Lotus race cars to be on display.

Watch the video Alabama NewsCenter produced that includes Barber telling the story of how the Barber Motorsports Park came to be.
