A tire factory worker’s flat tire helped to give birth to Tenders! restaurant in Huntsville.
The Big Daddy Chicken Plate isn’t fussy. It is anchored by the restaurant’s famous chicken fingers along with some slaw, fries, bread and sauce.
But there is something about the plate made at the original Tenders! location that helped land the plate on the list of “100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before You Die” list from the Alabama Tourism Department.
Mike Tepool, owner of Tenders!, tells the story of how the restaurant and the dish came to be.
