Alabama Power’s Supplier Diversity organization won a FUSION Award at ceremonies held April 22.

Sponsored by Summit Media Entertainment, the awards recognize minority and female business leadership in Birmingham.

Alabama Power Supplier Diversity won in the “Inclusion” category; Tracie Ridley, a Supplier Diversity analyst II for Alabama Power, won the individual “Inclusion” category.

From January 2015 to March 2016, Alabama Power has done business with 761 minority- and female-owned businesses.

“This recognition reflects our longstanding commitment to improving the communities we serve by nurturing business relationships with diverse suppliers,” said Jim Scott, director of Supply Chain Management for Alabama Power. “It truly exemplifies the dedication of the entire supplier diversity team and the commitment of the business units within our company.”

The 2016 presentation marks the ninth year of the awards.

“FUSION is all about embracing inclusion and diversity and the strength of that diversity within our city and communities,” said Chuck Faush, senior vice president of Summit Media and president of Summit Media Entertainment, in an earlier NewsCenter article.

Summit Media is an integrated broadcasting, digital media, direct marketing and events company based in Birmingham.
