Catch the Family Fun Festival and Expo in Huntsville June 11

If the kids are already getting antsy, you’ll find a quick fix by attending the Family Fun Festival and Expo at the Von Braun Center on Saturday, June 11. This free community event is chock-full of kid-friendly fun: A trackless train, a carousel, a rock wall, face painting, inflatables and more await. Attend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Hall.

Unwind at ‘Movie in the Park’ night in Foley June 10 

Load up the family, some lawn chairs and a comfy blanket, and settle in for a free movie under the stars in Foley. Disney’s comedy-adventure “Planes: Fire & Rescue” starts at dusk. Go back in time at the 1800s-era Fort Morgan while hitting the Gulf Coast

During June and July, history buffs and vacationers to the Gulf can visit Fort Morgan and take a one-hour, historian-guided tour. From 10 to 11 a.m. daily, hear a discussion about Fort Morgan’s history, architecture and soldiers’ everyday lives. Pack a lunch for an on-site picnic. Calling curious minds and history buffs: Take a free ride down memory lane in Montgomery June 12

In honor of Montgomery County’s bicentennial in 2016, begin celebrating with a historical trip around Montgomery with the Rev. Gary Burton of Pintlala Baptist Church. Burton, president of the Pintlala Historical Society, will provide a modern take on Montgomery’s rich history and the city’s growth over the last few decades.
