Take your sweetheart to the Tater Festival Sept. 4-5

It’s 20 years and counting for Cullman’s Sweet Tater Festival. Delight yourself with good food – especially the sweet tater pie. Enjoy the event on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Smith Lake Park in Cullman.

Yo, man! Get spicy at Huntsville’s Caribbean Day celebration Sept. 4

If you’re yearning for a taste of sunshine and delicious jerk chicken, washed down with a cool drink, don’t miss Caribbean Day in Huntsville. Jive to music by reggae and salsa bands, do some Caribbean dancing and show off your karaoke talents. Free activities include face painting, arts and crafts, Caribbean board games, musical chairs and other pastimes.

Fan appreciation nightHave a baseball weekend with the Biscuits in Montgomery Sept. 1-4

Riverwalk Stadium is the place for Labor Day fun, as the Montgomery Biscuits take on the Tennessee Smokies at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday. It’s the season’s last “Thirsty Thursday,” with prize giveaways and $2 beer to celebrate the University of Alabama and Auburn University’s historic rivalry.

Friday ushers in Fan Appreciation Night at 7:05 p.m., culminating in the year’s last MAX fireworks show.

Saturday’s game is at 6:35 p.m.; Sunday’s game starts at 5:35 p.m.; and the Labor Day game is at 12:05 p.m.
