Alabama players told media this week that they felt the pressure last season as they sought revenge for their 2014 loss to Ole Miss.

The Crimson Tide responded with a five-turnover showing in a 43-37 loss. Those turnovers included two fumbled kick returns.

“I feel like we put too much pressure, too much emphasis on revenge and all that stuff, so we are definitely not focusing on anything like that this year,” Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen said Monday in an Associated Press report. “We are just focusing on playing well.”

Kickoff for this latest rematch in Oxford, which can be seen on CBS, is at 2:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Auburn is at home for its 6 p.m. game with Texas A&M that can be seen on ESPN. The Tigers are trying to win a second game in a row against the Aggies, with whom they have alternated victories on the opponent’s home field. Auburn won 45-41 in 2013, A&M won 41-38 in 2014 and the Tigers took it 26-10 last season.

“It’s SEC play,” Gus Malzahn told the media this week. “We need to raise our level. Our coaches, our players understand that. I just think it being the SEC opener is big enough in itself. That’s our mindset right now.”
