Meteorologist remembers April 27 tornadoes in severe weather awareness tour in Birmingham

It is a day most Alabamians will never forget.

April 27, 2011 – two waves of severe weather that resulted in mass devastation across Alabama, and affected Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and Virginia.

Birmingham Chief Meteorologist Jerry Tracey of WVTM Channel 13 greeted Alabama Power customers at the Metro Central Business Office in downtown Birmingham on the seventh anniversary of those deadly storms.

Tracey recalled the aftermath of that day and shared severe weather safety tips.
