Alabama Power crews continue to closely assess damage and work safely and efficiently to restore power to customers affected by Hurricane Sally. Dangerous winds and flooding toppled trees, disrupting service to nearly 680,000 customers.

As of 3 p.m., outages statewide are down to 117,000. All customers in central and southeast Alabama able to receive service should be restored by Friday mid-morning. The company is working diligently and expects the majority of customers in the Mobile area to receive service by Sunday, but restoration for the heaviest hit areas could extend into early next week. A force of more than 4,000 including Alabama Power crews and resources from 14 states is working to restore service.

Video captured this afternoon in Bayou La Batre of Alabama Power crews working in the field highlights the adverse conditions lineworkers face.
