People of Alabama: Carol Hunter of Mobile
“Don’t spend too much time looking back. Learn what you need to from mistakes or things that have happened in the past but keep focused on the future. In the careers that I’ve had, they’ve been often positions of change, working as an agent of change. To do that, you’re going to take risks. There are going to be missteps and you know that if you never take a risk, you never advance very far. Not everything is going to work out. Learn what you can and keep moving forward.” – Carol Hunter, of Mobile.
Hunter is the communications director for the Downtown Mobile Alliance. One of her favorite memories of Mobile centers around its tricentennial.
“We celebrated our 300th birthday, the anniversary of the founding of Mobile, in 2002, and I worked on that effort. That year of seeing this community come together in ways that hadn’t happened before, at least in my experience, was so inspiring and hopeful. That year of celebrating our birthday was a real high point.”
