Forrest Sonny Poole recalls four decades as an athletics trainer at Alabama high school
For more than 40 years, players, coaches and even administrators came and went at A.H. Parker High School in Birmingham, but there was one person you could consistently count on.
Forrest Sonny “Pooh” Poole was a former graduate of the special education program at Parker and a volunteer on its basketball, football and track teams.
He also helped in various ways around school.
Poole was the teams’ biggest cheerleader and the school’s greatest ambassador until recent health issues forced him to give up the volunteer work he so dearly loved.
Poole talked with Alabama NewsCenter about his years at Parker and why working with the other students of the years was important to him.
