Flash Flood Warnings issued for multiple north, central Alabama counties

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a Flash Flood Warning for eight Alabama counties until 6:30 p.m. The affected counties are western Jefferson, Walker, eastern Marion, Winston, Fayette, Lamar, Pickens and Tuscaloosa.

At 2:32 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

The expected impact includes flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low-lying areas.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Flash Flood Warning until 6:15 p.m. for northeastern Cullman, Madison, east-central Morgan, DeKalb, Jackson and Marshall counties.

In addition to rainfall totals of 2 to 3 inches earlier today, another 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is possible.
