People of Alabama: Makiyah McFarland of Birmingham
“Just go with the flow of life. Don’t worry about what anyone says or thinks about you. From middle school to my sophomore year, I was very antisocial. I’m out there a little more now. I grew up around very judgmental people and I don’t like the pressure of being judged by other people. Don’t listen to what other people say. Only take the good advice. Do the things that make you happy instead of other people. Be yourself. Just keep praying and focusing on what you want in life.” – Makiyah McFarland, 18, of Birmingham.
McFarland graduated early from Minor High School. She was taking pictures before prom in Railroad Park. She’s getting ready to attend Miles College.
“I want to own a business because I like doing hair and makeup. I’m majoring in business management,” she said.
