Alabama Power is investing in new technologies to let customers know how quickly the power will be restored after outages based on the hard work (Alabama NewsCenter file)

Severe weather is a fact of life in Alabama, whether it’s thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes or even snow and ice.

That’s why Alabama Power is constantly working to improve its system – and investing in grid technology – so customers have power when they need it. When customers do lose power, the company works hard to get the lights back on quickly, with outage times that average 55% shorter than the national average.

Alabama Power has also recently launched new tools to keep customers informed.

  • Customers can sign up for Outage Alerts and receive personalized notifications about their power from a phone or computer. Just text “Enroll” to APCOUT or visit AlabamaPower.com/Alerts.
  • Customers can also check the new outage map at OutageMap.AlabamaPower.com where they can report and check the status of an outage.
