German culture has deep roots in north Alabama, and for 50 years one restaurant has been serving up some classic Deutschland dishes.

Ol’ Heidelberg was one of the first table-service German restaurants in Huntsville and its consistency for decades makes it a favorite.

That consistency is on full display in one of Ol’ Heidelberg’s most popular and classic dishes. The Wiener Schnitzel is a traditional take on a breaded veal cutlet that is special enough to earn a spot on the Alabama Tourism Department’s list of 100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama.
