Scott Martin: Warm, brilliant weekend for Alabama
THIS WEEKEND: Today will be sunny and warm across Alabama. Afternoon highs will be a few degrees above normal for this time of the year, topping out in the lower to mid 80s. For those heading to Talladega for the races, it will top out around 84.
A cold front will be getting itself together to the west, but no rain worries on Sunday. We’ll continue to stay dry with mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower to mid 80s. Race fans will see a high around 82 at Talladega.
THE WORK WEEK: The front enters northwestern Alabama by Monday afternoon, bringing showers and a few rumbles of thunder. Severe weather is not expected. Highs will range from the lower 80s in the northwest to the upper 80s in the southeast.
The front will complete its journey through Alabama by late Tuesday, but showers and thunderstorms can be expected for much of the day. Again, severe weather is not expected. Highs will range from the upper 60s in the northwest to the lower 80s in the southeast.
More seasonable weather can be expected Wednesday, with sunny skies. Highs will be in the 70s. Ridging starts to build back in for the end of the work week, allowing a warm-up to start Thursday. Skies will be sunny, with highs in the mid 70s to the lower 80s.
Humidity and temperatures will continue to increase Friday, but we’ll remain dry with mainly sunny skies. Highs will be in the lower to mid 80s. For those heading out to the big race weekend at Barber Motorsports Park, the high will be around 84 Friday.
