You can find shrimp and grits on menus throughout the South and probably even north of the Mason-Dixon Line.

There are many variations on this dish – so much so that it can be hard to identify what should and should not be in a “classic” version.

But at Classic on Noble in Anniston, co-owner Cathy Mashburn admits that their Shrimp & Grits isn’t at all classic but it is delicious.

They’re not the only ones who think so. The Alabama Tourism Department has added the dish to its list of 100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama.
