The balance between problem-solving and fiscally responsible actions helps ensure customers have the best experience. Alabama Power financial analyst JaKeta Williams is dedicated to making it happen.
“Above all, I am grateful I get to work with an amazing team,” said Williams. “Our ability to work together has strengthened our work product and relationships. We share a common goal to create value that has a positive impact on our customers.”

Williams is part of the Alabama Power Treasury department’s Financial Management & Strategy team that is responsible for the company’s long-term financing and capital structure. Williams’ team analyzes capital markets to determine the amount, term and timing of debt issuances. Opportunistic timing of an issuance and strong credit ratings result in significant amounts of interest savings for Alabama Power’s customers. The team also provides investment oversight for over $1.7 billion in funds for nuclear decommissioning trusts, the Alabama Power Foundation, the Alabama Business Charitable Trust and the Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association, which provides post-retirement medical and life benefits.
Beyond her role, Williams is integrally involved in the community. She was chairperson for the company’s 2020 and 2021 United Way of Central Alabama fundraising campaigns. It gave Williams the opportunity to observe the overwhelming needs in the community and see how pooling resources can help others.
“JaKeta is the ultimate example of ‘actions speaking louder than words.’ She does not brag or boast even though she is constantly doing heroic things,” Financial Manager Allison Boone said of Williams’ service-oriented attitude. “We were discussing weekend plans when she casually mentioned she was running a half-marathon. She was anticipating parenting a foster baby for the first time, and she welcomed twins!”
Williams is also a member of the Alabama Power Service Organization and treasurer for the Salvation Army of Birmingham’s Junior Board, Echelon.
Through the years, Williams volunteered with Junior Achievement, teaching high school students about the importance of prioritizing personal finances and increasing financial literacy, and served on the Junior Board for the Autism Society of Alabama.
“JaKeta is always calm under pressure and constantly strives to help others in need; she willingly took on an additional year as the United Way chairperson for the company and continued to perform all of her job responsibilities,” Boone said.
In addition to her volunteer work, Williams’ servant’s heart has opened on an even more personal level, as her family recently welcomed foster children into their home. With the already significant number of foster children in the state rising, the need for foster parents has increased. She explains that every foster care story starts with a loss; it may be temporary, but the family loses the child, and the child loses their family.
“It’s not my job to judge the root of the loss. I’m there to help nourish the child and encourage the family,” Williams said. “Our goal is to serve families in their time of need by providing a safe and loving environment for their child. I have found it to be a true blessing for our family to bring these children into our home.”
