Grady Brown started playing football in a youth league in Birmingham’s Central Park when he was 10 years old.

His talent and love for the game would take him through stellar play at Wenonah High School and Alabama A&M University and to his current position as secondary coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL.

It also allows him to do for others.

“It really also affords me an opportunity to give back to the game,” he said.

That will take the form of the first Arthur and Eva Brown Foundation Youth Development Football Camp. The free event will take place at Wenonah High School on June 18 with two sessions. The first session will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and will focus on boys ages 9-13. The second session will be from noon to 2 p.m. and is aimed at boys ages 14-17.

Special guests will include current NFL coaches and players.

Brown said the camp will feature some important skills and drills for football but will also include positive messages for life. About 200 participants are expected.
