Legends in Concert

Summer performances are underway through Sunday, Sept. 4 at OWA in Foley. Fans will see performances by Isaiah Mercado as Bruno Mars, Nellie Norris as Katy Perry, Nae Cullors as Michael Jackson and more. The show features high-energy dancers, backup vocalists, a live band, costumes, elaborate theatrical sets and a full array of special effects.

Performances will be at the OWA Theater Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m.

Birmingham Barons

Montgomery Freedom Rides Museum 

The Freedom Rides Museum will host “The Green Book: Navigating Jim Crow America” through Sunday, July 31. The exhibit focuses on the annual Green Book travel guide that catered to Black travelers during the 20th century. The exhibit highlights Alabama businesses and homes listed in the Green Book and emphasizes how the Freedom Rides and Civil Rights Act changed how Black Americans traveled. The Ben Moore Hotel in Montgomery and the A.G. Gaston Motel in Birmingham are two remaining Green Book sites in Alabama.

The museum is at 210 South Court St. in Montgomery.

Railroad Park

This popular “Central Park” of Birmingham, at First Avenue South between 14th and 18th Streets, will close briefly starting at 8 p.m. tonight for security measures for The World Games 2022 but will reopen Saturday, July 16, for multiple free competitions through the weekend. On Saturday morning, starting at 8 a.m., come watch the Women’s Duathlon, followed by the Men’s Duathlon at 5 p.m. On Sunday, July 17, the Orienteering Sprint Relay Finals begin at 9 a.m., with the Mixed Relay Duathlon starting at 1 p.m. World Games outdoor competition schedules are subject to change based on weather. The World Games 2022

Beyond the events at Railroad Park, there is still much to see at The World Games 2022 in Birmingham through Sunday, July 17, including Wheelchair Rugby, Ju-Jitsu and Tug of War.

The World Games Closing Ceremony

Tickets are still available for The World Games Closing Ceremony, which is scheduled for Sunday, July 17, at Protective Stadium in Birmingham. The all-star celebration will feature Lionel Richie joined by Alabama, Jamey Johnson, Bo Bice, Taylor Hicks, Blind Boys of Alabama, Pastor Mike (McClure) Jr., Ruben Studdard, Yung Bleu and Martha Reeves. Serving as the grand finale of this international event, “One World – One People: Celebrating Legacy, Achievement and Unity” will commemorate The Games with performances and the opportunity for athletes, fans and volunteers to bid farewell to Birmingham. The Closing Ceremony will climax with the ceremonial passing of The World Games flag to representatives of the 2025 host city, Chengdu, China. Buy tickets here.
