Alabama News Center has a new look and new features – all designed to make our site more engaging and more user-friendly.

Avid readers may also notice that our name has been updated slightly, with “News Center” now separated into two words.

“We’re excited to unveil our new look for Alabama News Center, which honors the past while providing what we think is a fresh, bolder presentation for the great stories about our state that our readers have come to expect and enjoy,” said Mike Tomberlin, Alabama News Center editor.

“But it’s more than just a new look,” Tomberlin said.

The new Alabama News Center is designed to make it easier for visitors to read, view and share the site’s content with others. Among the new features:

• A revised look and framework that makes it easier for readers and viewers to find the latest posts about topics that are most interesting to them, as well as the most popular stories.
• We’ve added new types of content, like the “Notes from Home” podcast featuring music and musicians with ties to Alabama, giving users new ways to enjoy stories.
• We’ve also created a new section – “Food & Drink” – focused on Alabama’s unique and evolving cuisine, restaurants and recipes – stories that have long been among our readers’ favorites.
• And, we’re placing a greater emphasis on video content – which is also popular among our users.

We’re hoping our updated Alabama News Center will be even more engaging, as well as easier to use. Of course, as always, we encourage you to share our stories with your friends and through your favorite social platforms. You are welcome to share all of Alabama News Center’s content – including stories, videos and photographs. Media also are welcome to share and repost our original stories; all we ask is that news organizations credit Alabama News Center.

Additionally, we have introduced a new series, “1963: Bending Toward Justice,” looking back on the 60^th anniversary of one of the most important years in civil rights history in this state and the nation.

We know that Alabama and Alabamians are amazing. We want more people to discover this great and beautiful and unique place we call home – and the wonderful people who live, work and play here – through the engaging content on Alabama News Center. Which is why we’ve also updated our tagline to: “Stories worth sharing.”
