Alabama Power’s Dee Anne Odom named one of Birmingham Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40

The Birmingham Business Journal (BBJ) recently unveiled its Top 40 Under 40 list for 2023, recognizing emerging leaders in Birmingham’s business sector.

Among those honored is Dee Anne Odom, Alabama Power system operations manager. Odom is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operations of the Alabama Power transmission system. She also participates in industry efforts, including SERC Operating Committee and the North American Transmission Forum.

“It’s an honor to be recognized as part of such an outstanding group of people,” said Odom. “I have been fortunate over my career to work with great people who make coming to work enjoyable, and Alabama Power is full of high achieving individuals who make accomplishing big goals possible. I’m thankful to be a part of the team.”

The BBJ has been celebrating leaders in local business for 39 years through the Top 40 Under 40 awards. Honorees were selected based on the key roles they play in the Birmingham business community. This year’s group will be honored at 5 p.m. Feb. 16 at Iron City at a Top 40 Under 40 cocktail celebration, presented by Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business.

“Dee Anne shows dedication to serving our customers and her teammates each and every day,” said Elaine Kwarcinski, Alabama Power general manager of Power Delivery Operations and Planning. “She’s an exceptional leader and is very deserving of this recognition.”

Odom is an active member of the community. She serves as chair of the Industrial Advisory Board for the University of South Alabama (USA) College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and is a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for the USA doctorate of systems engineering program. She served on the Alabama Power Service Organization and Coalbed Methane Association of Alabama boards. Odom has also actively participated Alabama Power programs designed to support youths and girls interested in pursuing engineering careers.

Odom earned her Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from USA and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Alabama. She is a licensed professional engineer in Alabama.
