Taste of 4th Avenue Jazz Festival
Birmingham’s Taste of 4th Avenue Jazz Festival is slated for Saturday, Aug. 24, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. for a day filled with music, food, vendors and community. Attendees will have access to businesses throughout the district. For the children, there will be a video game truck, clowns and face painting. Small coolers and lawn chairs are welcomed. Ukrainian Freedom Festival
The Independent Presbyterian Church will again host the Ukrainian Freedom Festival Saturday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. The free festival features tastings of traditional Ukrainian food; Ukrainian music and dancing; live video feeds from friends in Ukraine; and booths by multiple organizations. Hog Days of Summer
The seventh annual Hog Days of Summer event in Montgomery will be Saturday, Aug. 24, featuring live performances by Drive-By Truckers, George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners, Cris Jacobs and Ms. Aretta Woodruff. The family affair will offer a kids’ zone with inflatables, arts and crafts, and games for all ages. Children ages 12 and younger are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Sidewalk Film Festival
The 26th annual Sidewalk Film Festival is underway through Sunday, Aug. 25, in Birmingham’s historic theater district. The film fest is offering screenings of more than 200 films, filmmaker Q&As, panels, workshops, networking events and parties. Venues include the Alabama School of Fine Arts, Alabama Theatre, Birmingham Museum of Art, Carver Theatre, First Church Birmingham, Lyric Theatre and Sidewalk Cinema.
