Assistance rolls in for storm restoration

Alabama Power crews prepare for storm restoration duty. (file)

Alabama Power crews continue working hard to get the lights back on for affected customers after severe storms pounded the state Tuesday night. At the height of the storms, 115,000 customers were affected by outages. Power has already been restored to more than 100,000 of them.

Additional workers will continue arriving through late this evening to assist with outage restoration efforts. The extra manpower will help bolster the storm restoration team to a combined force of more than 1,700 line personnel, including crews from utilities in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Alabama Power recognizes these outages are an inconvenience for our customers. Crews are working to minimize that inconvenience and get the lights back on as soon as possible. We thank you for your patience.

Meanwhile, take a look at some of the crew members from Gulf Power loading up before heading here to help.
