Performer: Escondido

Type of music: Indie folk

About: Making appearances on hit shows like “ABC’s Nashville” and “Conan,” the Nashville-based duo has surely been headed in the right direction from the beginning. Their self-released debut album, “The Ghost of Escondido,” received high praises from the industry’s best critics and even received a thumbs-up from director David Lynch.

Described on their website as “southwest fantasia, swirling trumpet and slow-motion reverb,” their sound has been chosen to enhance the soundtracks to several films and TV shows, including HBO’s “Girls.”

The duo’s members, Jessica Maros and Tyler James, met at a recording session with a mutual friend at James’ house.

James recorded Maros playing tunes on her guitar, added in his own style and after giving it a listen the two embarked on a musical whirlwind.“ It’s an easy process when you both love the same stuff,” said Maros.
