FHLBank gives boost to six Alabama affordable housing projects

Six affordable housing projects across Alabama got a shot in the arm recently as the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta awarded them $1.3 million .
The projects are in Butler, Clarke, Marengo, Mobile and Montgomery counties.
“We are proud to celebrate 25 years of the Affordable Housing Program,” said Robert Dozier, FHLBank Atlanta chief business officer. “In partnership with our shareholder financial institutions, the AHP has made a difference in the lives of thousands of families across the Southeast.”
In Butler, 42-unit Bedford Pines received $238,535, while Pinewood, a 29-unit development in Demopolis, received $347,419.
Greenville’s Country Village, a 37-unit development, received $208,343; Jackson’s 48-unit Pine Ridge Apartments received $195,000; Montgomery’s Lanier Place II, an 18-unit development, received $168,665; and Theodore’s Hunter’s Run Apartments, a 56-unit deal, received $165,000.
FHLBank has awarded $615 million to 181 housing developments, totaling 7,567 units, since 1990.
The current projects are said to leverage more than $20.1 million in total residential development, FHLBank said.
