Performer: The Struts

Type of music: Hard rock, glam rock

About: The Struts, a flashy, fashion-forward foursome from Bristol, England, have been winning fans across the pond and across generations.

“We weren’t ever really conscious about achieving such a wide demographic, but it’s just turned out to be one of our strengths,” frontman Luke Spiller told online blog Amby.

It’s easy to see why. The band’s flamboyant stage presence evokes ‘70s glam stars like Queen, T.Rex and The Sweet. But their guitar-driven hard-rock crunch would sound right at home opening for Motley Crue — which the Struts did in 2015.

“We’re pushing our debut album (‘Everybody Wants’) across the United States,” Spiller told GoTriCities. “Every night we’re playing fantastic sold-out shows, meeting loads of fantastic fans.”

In fact, the Struts admit they’ve done better in the States than at home. Packed venues, wild music videos and appearances on late-night talk shows have fueled a buzz that will reach Birmingham at SlossFest in July.

Playing at SlossFest: The Struts will perform on the Shed stage Sunday, July 17, 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Sloss Music and Arts Festival takes place at the historic Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham July 16-17 and features 34 performers on three stages. Tickets can be purchased here.
