Improving the science of providing lifesaving warnings during Alabama severe weather

You are the single most important person when it comes to protecting your family in severe weather. Your preparedness and awareness are crucial. But next on that list are the men and women who crunch the numbers and decipher the data to provide actionable forecasts during chaotic conditions.
Ike Pigott recently spoke with ABC 33/40 meteorologist Brian Peters, during a severe weather awareness event at the Alabama Power business office in Pelham. Peters is the former chief meteorologist for the National Weather Service field office for central Alabama. They talked about the ways in which meteorologists are trying to improve watches and warnings – and even cut down on the needless warnings that may fool people into taking alerts lightly.
