Alabama coach Nick Saban said Monday that he was pleased with his team’s 38-19 season-opening win at Missouri on Saturday night.
“It’s pretty obvious that it was a good win for the opening game of the season,” Saban said. “I think anytime you win a game in the SEC you’ve got to be happy about that.”
But Saban being Saban, there is always room for improvement, especially when he watched his team lose focus after building a 28-3 halftime lead.
“We also didn’t maintain our intensity throughout the game. I don’t think we really played with the same energy and enthusiasm in the second half, and I think it showed in our performance,” Saban said.
Saban and his coaches will work to avoid that sort of loss of intensity in the Crimson Tide’s second game of the season against Texas A&M this coming Saturday.
“The big focus is on what do we have to do to get better,” Saban said. “I think improvement is a word we use a lot. Hopefully we’ll be able to get a lot of players to make a significant amount of improvement this week so that we can play better.”
