James Spann: Alabama stays dry through the weekend, with temps below average

CALM WEATHER DAYS AHEAD: Much drier air has moved into Alabama this afternoon, there is nothing on radar at mid-afternoon and we expect dry conditions to persist through the weekend. There is a big range of temperatures across the state thanks to a cold front near I-59; east of the front most places are in the 70s, but west of the front northwest Alabama communities are holding in the 50s. Tonight will be mostly fair and cool, with a low between 38 and 44 degrees.
Expect a partly sunny sky Thursday and Friday with highs in the mid 60s. We are forecasting a good supply of sunshine over the weekend with highs remaining between 63 and 67 degrees. The coldest morning will come early Sunday, when most places across north and central Alabama will drop into the 30s. Frost is likely, and colder pockets could very well see a late-season freeze; growers, beware.
NEXT WEEK: Monday and Tuesday will be dry and warmer, with highs in the 70s. A dynamic weather system will bring rain and storms back into the state by Wednesday night and Thursday. Global models continue to suggest severe storms will be possible, but it is way too early to be specific. Dry air will likely return by Friday, April 1.UPDATED STORM TOTALS: Here are updated rain reports across Alabama Tuesday and last night:
