And although Birmingham-born and celebrity comedian Rickey Smiley of the Rickey Smiley Morning Show makes people laugh for a living, his mother, Carolita Smiley Lester, sees his success as no laughing matter.

Gratefulness and humility is what she says she feels when she sees her children all grown up today.
