Birmingham’s Sidewalk Film Festival has announced its full lineup for its 17th year of the event to be held Aug. 28-30.

“This year, we are bringing what we as organizers believe is our best lineup to date, drawing unbelievably talented filmmakers and their work to the Magic City,” says Chloe Cook Collins, executive director. “Film lovers across all genres and ages are encouraged to come out and enjoy what has, for 17 years, served as one of Birmingham’s finest signature downtown events.”

Tickets to the three-day festival can be purchased at SidewalkFest.com and are priced at:

  • General admission of $30 for the opening night film (sponsored by Regions Bank) includes a “party pass.”
  • Sidewalk weekend and VIP passes for $55 to $225 include opening night film and party admission.
  • Student pass for $35 includes opening night film, a party pass, plus three general admission film tickets for any film Saturday or Sunday.

Sidewalk’s lineup was first released last night at a Festival Sneak Peek event, held for a number of the event’s strongest supporters at the Red Mountain Theatre Company/Kress Building downtown.

Visit the official Sidewalk Film Festival site to read the film names, synopses and venue information. Alabama Power is the title sponsor of this year’s Sidewalk Film Festival. Additional event sponsors can also be found on the Sidewalk site.

Since its debut in 1999, filmmakers from across the country and around the world have come to Birmingham to screen their work at Sidewalk and have been thrilled to discover fresh, enthusiastic crowds eager to take in new, independent cinema.

The films are shown at multiple venues within Birmingham’s historic Theatre District – including the fully restored, 2,200-seat Alabama Theatre movie palace built by Paramount in 1927.
