The weather won’t change much across Alabama through tomorrow; a mix of sun and clouds both days with scattered showers and thunderstorms, most numerous during the afternoon and evening. Afternoon highs will be close to 90 degrees.

THE WEEKEND: The sky will be cloudy at times Saturday and Sunday with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms both days. The rain won’t be continuous, but if you have something planned outdoors be ready for a passing shower or storm at almost any time. Temperatures trend downward because of the clouds and showers; the high Saturday will be in the mid 80s, with low 80s Sunday. As is usually the case in summer, rain distribution won’t be too even due to the scattered nature of the storms, but most places will see at least one-half to three-quarters of an inch.

NEXT WEEK: An unusually dry airmass for June drops into the state Monday, and the first half of the week will feature sunny days, cooler nights and lower humidity. There’s a good chance a number of locations will reach the 50s early Tuesday morning. Heat levels will rise later in the week, but the weather looks dry all the way through Friday.

TROPICAL ACTION IN THE GULF NEXT WEEK: Global models develop a tropical low in the southern Gulf of Mexico Monday; this will move northeast, and should wet down the Florida Peninsula Tuesday.

Understand if you have a trip planned to Disney World next week (or places like Tampa or Daytona Beach), this will be just a one-day issue; after the tropical rain Tuesday the rest of the week looks very nice. And this tropical system should have no impact on Alabama or the Gulf Coast (places like Gulf Shores, Destin and Panama City Beach) other than potential rip tides on Tuesday.

AT THE BEACH: Expect a good supply of sunshine along the Gulf Coast from Panama City Beach over to Gulf Shores today and tomorrow with only isolated showers. Scattered storms will be more likely over the weekend, but we still expect four to six hours of sunshine both days. Then, next week looks great with generally dry weather on the coast Monday through Friday. Highs will be in the 80s most days. See a detailed Gulf Coast forecast here.
