Gov. Kay Ivey released a new video message Monday urging Alabamians to adhere to the home confinement rules and venture out only when necessary to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.

“These are uncertain times for sure,” Ivey said in the video. “So now, and for the foreseeable future, please, please consider staying safe at home.”

While some may feel like they are healthy enough to risk going out even when they don’t have to, Ivey asked that they consider those more vulnerable to COVID-19.

“We need all of our people of all ages to start thinking about others – many that you love and care for – even if you aren’t thinking about yourself,” she said.

Ivey’s video reiterates many of the messages she delivered when she issued the most restrictive COVID-19 orders yet for the state on Friday.

Ivey said cooperation from everyone will hasten the end of social distancing and sheltering in place.

“With faith and perseverance, we will get through this together,” Ivey said.
