Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer, and when you say “summer” in the Alabama National Guard, that usually means annual training, affectionately known as “summer camp” within the ranks.
In what was a very hot summer, soldiers and airmen throughout the Alabama National Guard braved the elements to complete some key training.
The 1st of the 167th Infantry Regiment conducted assaults. The 129th Medical Company Area Support (MCAS) provided real-life and scenario-driven aid. The 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) conducted night fire operations. The 1st of the 177th Field Artillery took a break from firing the big guns and got some nonstandard mission training in water rescue operations.
That’s just a few examples. Here are some videos and photos that show a small part of what Alabama National Guard units took on this summer.
