A football game, dancing stars and holiday lights highlight Can’t Miss Alabama

The extended Christmas holiday is packed with family-friendly events in this edition of Can’t Miss Alabama.
Dancing with the Stars: Live!
If you’re a fan of “Dancing With the Stars,” here’s your chance to see some of your favorite stars perform. Presented by National 2 Shows, the event hits the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) Concert Hall Tuesday, Dec. 29. It begins at 8 p.m. Ticket information can be found online at Dancing with the Stars Tour.
Kwanzaa Celebration
The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) will host a Kwanzaa Celebration Tuesday, Dec. 29 beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Odessa Woolfolk Gallery. The holiday celebrates the spirit of family and community. Kwanzaa means “first fruits of the harvest” in Kiswahili and was founded in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga. It’s celebrated Dec. 26-Jan. 1.

Bellingrath Magic Christmas in Lights
Bellingrath Gardens and Home continues celebrating its 20th year of “Magic Christmas in Lights” through Jan. 2, 2016 (except Christmas and New Year’s Day). The magical Christmas show displays 3 million dazzling lights on the 65-acre garden estate. Tours of the South Terrace are available nightly. 2015 ZooLight Safari
There’s still time to catch the 2015 ZooLight Safari Dec. 26-31 at the Birmingham Zoo. Try the new Glacier Glide Ice Rink along with a variety of other family-friendly entertainment. Click here for ticket information and to find out more about the event.
The 2nd annual Oak Mountain Festival of Lights runs through Jan. 3, 2016 at 1000 Amphitheater Road in Pelham. The nightly driving event features Alabama’s largest animated holiday lights show with special effects. The show includes the “Mile of Light Displays” and other entertainment. Skating in the Park
Huntsville hosts Skating in the Park at the Huntsville Museum of Art through Jan. 4, 2016. This family-friendly skating event is for beginners. Click here for ticket information.
Birmingham Bowl
Legion Field will host the 10th Annual Birmingham Bowl Wednesday, Dec. 30. This event is featured as part of a tripleheader of bowls on ESPN that day. For ticket information, visit this site.
