Where does Alabama rank among best states to retire?

There are a lot of things that might attract a future retiree to Alabama.
For starters, there are the lake home properties that are attracting looks from all over the country.
Then there’s simply the affordable cost of living the state offers.
But where does Alabama rank among the 50 states in terms of best places to retire?
According to WalletHub, Alabama is one of the more affordable states in which to retire, but a couple of other factors, outside of affordability, place the state more toward the middle of the pack.

WalletHub’s latest study ranked Alabama No. 35 in the U.S. for retirees in 2016.
Alabama got a total score of 54.07, compared to the No. 1 state, Florida, which got a 70.75 score.
The state did rank No. 7 in terms of affordability, but it received a ranking of No. 43 for quality of life and a No. 51 rank for healthcare.
Alabama was No. 3 in lowest adjusted cost of living and tied for No. 2 in lowest annual cost of in-home services.
On a 100-point scale, states could have received a total of 40 points for affordability, 30 points for quality of life and 30 points for healthcare.
